I remember, back in the day, we used to recruit sales people who had lots of existing customers or a client bank already established, so once they were employed by us, they were able to maximise sales with their client base. This was particularly prevalent in financial services sales and not recommended since it encouraged churning of products. Not good and best forgotten.
