As a busy and industrious front line coach, you take every opportunity to coach your team. But do you make sure you have a robust action plan at the end. Sometimes it is such a short coaching session and the action plan is so obvious, you don’t want to ask.
Here’s a useful tactic to use in those circumstances, so let me explain why.

- W – what are you going to do?
- H – how are you going to do it?
- Y – how can you help them?
A tad corny maybe, but a quick way of getting an action plan. After all, coaching must create action, a next step, otherwise it’s pointless. Why’s that?
