I read at the weekend about the scientists who had discovered a matter that can travel faster than the speed of light. Not by much, but faster. The rapid items are neutrinos.
What’s the implication of this? It changes everything in physics. The idea that nothing can exceed the speed of light in a vacuum forms a cornerstone in physics – first laid out by James Clerk Maxwell and later incorporated into Albert Einstein’s theory of special relativity.
How’s this useful to us though? Enough of the science, I’ll explain…
You see, if you travel faster than the speed of light, you can go back in time. At last, my boyhood dream of travelling in a time machine will come true.
But what are the lessons here? In sales, don’t take your current skills and processes for granted as things change even if you never thought they would.
- You think your customer always wants face to face contact as it’s a people business. No…
- You think it’s all about building a rapport, being friendly, being the nice guy. No…
- You think customers will always come to the High Street? No…
- You think your product will always be in demand? No…
- The internet will never take over my role. No…
If they can create a time machine, nothing’s sacred, be prepared for some major changes.
And poor old Einstein, he must be shaking in his grave with his famous Theory of Relativity being rocked at is foundations. But a time machine, how cool is that.
