4 Voice exercises

The following exercise should be done regularly in order to gain the benefits.

Resonance

A resonant voice gives you depth and authority alongside a richer voice. It ticks all the box of the modern professional expert who wishes to gain credibility quickly. Here’s how to develop a resonant voice.

  1. Stand or sit but hold your posture well
  2. Choose a note to hum
  3. Next hum it for an entire breath
  4. Go low with your humming
  5. Feel the vibration in your chest, learn to recognise the signs of a resonant voice
  6. Repeat over again

Clarity and mouth control

Useful for fluency and expressions

  1. Stand or sit but hold your posture well
  2. Say a letter out loud as clear as you can, for about 10 seconds or your breath runs out
  3. Move your whole mouth and accentuate your cheek muscles
  4. Now do the rest of the alphabet in the same manner
  5. Repeat the alphabet

Quick clarity

This is a quick exercise to do when you haven’t much time

  1. Say the letters QEQR
  2. Move your whole mouth and accentuate your cheek muscles

Developing intonation

  1. If you have children, read a character book and put on some accents
  2. If you don’t have children, grab a company brochure and read it as though you were talking to a child. Make it interesting.
